I am now self-publishing all my books because Loose Id closed its doors, my first and last publishing house, the others closing shop these past few years – Awe-Struck, Aspen Mountain Press, Musa Publishing, Ellora’s Cave… Vina and I self-publish our coauthored books, and so I know the drill. The hardest part, leaving alone already good books that have been edited several times.
I just can’t do it! I don’t know a writer who can leave their books alone when they get them back in their hands. Some of my books are twelve years old, and well, I hope I’m a better writer now. Or that’s what I tell myself, giving myself permission to edit my already edited books…over and over and over. That’s why I use Grammarly – an online editing software program that can catch my mistakes when I make my numerous editorial changes. There’s the fear of the dreaded typo that haunts authors. I don’t know a book that doesn’t have one or two…and I hope to keep them very far and few among the pages of my books.
Look for my first re-releases Out of Bounds (written as a ‘coming out’ challenge for LI) and A Rumored Affair (last book written for LI) – these are both contemporaries novellas (40,000 plus). Vina and I have a new contemporary Long, Tall, Cowboy that’s very, very close to being published this fall. I love the book cover – hint: a very hot cowboy. 🙂
